What Rooms In Your Home Can Benefit From Removable Wallpaper

Removable wallpaper is exactly what it sounds like: a wallcovering that can be removed without harming the surface to which it’s applied. Removable wallpaper has been around for decades, but don’t think this means it’s no longer stylish or relevant. In fact, removable wallpaper is enjoying a newfound popularity. We recently went to a home in New York’s Westchester County that was covered in removable wallpaper–on the ceiling, no less! In this post, we take a look at why wallpapers are growing more popular and what types of rooms removable wallpaper is best suited for.

Which Rooms Are Ideal For Removable Wallpaper?

Not all wallpapers are intended to be removable, so this is something you may want to ask before purchasing. If the wallpaper is meant to stay put for several years, it won’t come off easily once you decide you’d like a change. That’s not to say it can’t be removed, but plan on hiring an expert if you’re trying to re-purpose a non-removable wallpaper. Removable wallpapers are available in many types of styles and colors, from subtle prints to geometric designs or even murals that span the entire room.

You’ll typically find removable wallpapers used on smaller surfaces. We recommend using them on accent walls, as a way to define an “entry” area (such as behind a couch or in a hallway) and on painted furniture. You can also use removable wallpaper to decorate an entire room if you carefully remove the pieces of paper when it’s time for a change, but we wouldn’t recommend this method unless you intend to replace them with new designs every so often. Here are some of the rooms that can greatly benefit from removable wallpapers.

Nursery

Removable wallpapers can make a special design statement in a nursery. With many options available, you can find removable wallpaper decorated with trains, safari animals or modern prints.

Kitchen and Bathroom

One of the biggest challenges when designing and decorating small spaces (such as kitchens and bathrooms) is thinking outside the box. Removable  wallpaper is a great way to visually expand the space because many feature large-scale designs that can really make an impact.

Living Room or Bedroom

Removable wallpapers are especially well-suited for smaller rooms. One of our favorite uses for removable wallpaper is in bedrooms, where the paper can help divide up different sleeping areas without taking away from the style of the space.

Office

For those who work from home, a cool floral stick on wallpaper design can help distract from the drab walls that come with an office setting. Removable wallpapers are also cost-effective solutions for renters or homeowners who want to give their spaces a fresh look without paying a premium to repaint.

Kid’s rooms

This is another area where removable wallpapers can be ideal, whether you’re looking to give your kids the creative freedom to change their designs whenever they feel like it or if you simply want to make a grand design statement.

Remember…

When it comes to removable wallpaper, the possibilities are truly endless. It’s also an easy way to spice up your space without making a major commitment or renovations. So go ahead and consider investing in some new removable wallpapers for your home!
