How To Care For The Trees In Your Garden

Are you the type of person who loves gardening?  You can add some greenery shade to your yard in the form of trees. You should understand some of the tree basics first. In this article, you will find information about how to care for the trees and uses of gardening.

Understand Your Trees

Do some research about the needs of your trees. Some of the important things you should consider are:

Water and Type of Soil: A tree’s preferred moisture conditions should be well known even though it is receiving enough water from rainfall alone. The soil condition of the place where the tree is planted should be good.

Drought-tolerant: During the time of drought, keep an eye on the tree and provide supplemental water as needed.

Sensitive:  Some trees are sensitive to factors like high winds, salt spray, drought, too much water, or root competition from other plants. Avoid exposing the tree to these stressors.

Some of the tips to take care of the trees include:

  • Protecting The Roots Of The Trees

The roots of the trees must be healthy for nutrient absorption. Healthy soil also plays a main role in making the roots healthy. Compacted soil will impede water filtration and oxygen into the root zone. The CRZ is the area around the tree which is called the drip line of the tree. The roots in this area are sensitive to disturbance. So, you should not compact soil or change the grade of the soil within the CRZ of your tree.

  • Protect the Tree Bark

The bark of the tree acts like an armor protecting the tree. Damaging the bark can result in fungal or bacterial infections which can harm the tree by rotting from the inside. The tree bark can be damaged by rotary spray heads, rubbing branches, lawn equipment, and vehicles. You should protect the tree from these factors.

  • Water Effectively

In summer and drought conditions, deep watering should be done for the trees. Mature trees will handle the environment well. Taking care of the soil and the tree is the best way for the survival of it during the drought.

  • Pruning

During the winter season, you can prune the trees by removing the selected branches. You should remove crossing branches, dead and broken branches, and low branches for the tree to grow well. You can contact tree surgeons in your area for tree removal, crown lifting, deadwood removal, etc.

Spending time in the garden with your kids and pets will boost your mental health. It will reduce the stress level and will make you happy. It is a great workout and is a great way to get your kids away from their gadgets and out into nature.
